Difficult dance moves

Dancing is a truly beautiful form of expression which has been around for centuries. There are many challenging moves to learn and perfect, but here’s a selection of the most difficult across the disciplines.
Ballet
1. Grand Jete
The Grand Jete is one of the most challenging jumps to perform and requires the dancer to continuously stretch in order to obtain flexibility. A skilled ballerina will propel themselves gracefully into the air and appear to be doing the splits while above the ground.
2. En pointe
En pointe means “on the tip” and requires dancers to perform on their toes. Special pointe shoes are worn to help protect the feet and these have a carefully designed box area at the end to support the toes.
3. Pirouettes
One of the most common moves in ballet, pirouettes require incredible technique and balance. Dancers train for years to get their positions right and no ballet dance is truly complete without them.
4. Fouette
Fouette literally means a “whipped throw” and is one of the hardest turns in ballet. With the working leg passing in front or behind the body while spinning, it is hard to master and takes a lot of determination.
5. Grand Adage
The Grand Adage is a challenging part of any ballet routine as it involved strong, slow and well-controlled movements. The dancers are required to lift their legs to the front, back and sides seamlessly and this really work the muscles in the bodies.
Breakdancing
1. Headspin
The Headspin is a difficult and dangerous move that requires the dancer to actually spin on his head before carrying on with the routine. Check out this video:
2. Air Flare
The Air Flare is another incredibly difficult move which is great for street cred but takes ages to perfect.
3. The Monkey Flip
The Monkey Flip basically involved you throwing your body backwards and hoping you are still alive at the end of it. Of course trained dancers know they will be, but people in training may not be so sure.
4. The Worm
The Worm is a popular breakdancing move that needs a lot of skill. Take a look at this video to perfect the technique.
5. Freeze
Can you freeze in mid air taking the whole of your bodyweight through your arms? This guy can! Don’t miss this cool routine…
Jazz
1. Straight Leg Scorpion
The Straight Leg Scorpion is one of the hardest extensions to get right and requires a lot of flexibility.
2. Stag Leap
The Stag Leap is difficult as you need to co-ordinate you arms and legs and get the jump right – good luck.
3. Vegas Style Runway
The Vegas Style Runway is difficult for anyone who does not have any rhythm – you have been warned.
4. Barrel Turn
The Barrel Turn is an extremely difficult turn which requires leaning back and stretching your arms as you twist in mid air.
5. The Calypso
The Calypso is a typical move in Latin Jazz and while it seems fairly easy it is difficult to make it look good.
Tap
1. Scissor Step
Although fairly simple when slow, this step is really difficult when done quickly as you have to fling up onto your toes.
2. Shuffle Slap Up Changes
The beats sound great with this dance but it is certainly not easy to do because not only do you have to tap but you have to travel too.
3. Paddle and Roll
With triple heel slaps and plenty of syncopation, the Paddle and Roll includes many steps and rhythms and is not quickly mastered.
4. Step Heel Turn Combination
The feet move differently from the way the dancer is turning in this combination making the Step Heel Turn rather tricky.
5. Treble Steps and Moves
Treble steps and moves have to be really clean and crisp to great the beat and this can prove quite challenging when you are just starting out.
Salsa
1. Noventa
The Noventa dance step involved many turns and you will definitely get yourself in a twist if you don’t practice.
2. Butterfly Spin
With plenty of switching hands and turning, the Butterfly Spin is not easy and the man certainly has to be a strong lead.
3. Around the World
Around the World is really difficult to follow unless you know the basic Salsa steps. Check this out:
4. Multi-Spin
The Multi-Spin not only requires fantastic rhythm but sensational balance. Have a go at this if you think you have what it takes.
5. The Hand Juggle Slingshot Move
The Hand Juggle Slingshot Move is definitely a difficult combination which involves a double turn and plenty of coordination.
So there you have it, a selection of the most difficult dance moves around.

The Fleckerls in International Viennese Waltz are generally considered the most difficult moves in standard ballroom. Other moves in Swedish Hambo (the Hambo turns), and the Enrosque in Argentine Tango, are not only technically hard to do but also very demanding physically. In addition, some of the more modern “club” dances, particularly nightclub two-step and bachata, are reported to have steps and moves which equal or even exceed the aforementioned in difficulty. Since I have not done either of these (but have done the first three), I can say that these definitely test one’s mettle in the movement department.
can you do pop and country.
